‘Nyan Heroes,’ which features players taking on the role of cats piloting mechs, invites players to join its third playtest period, now live.
Game Nyan Heroes
This playtest not only introduces a new game mode called Payload but also adds two new characters that will enhance the gameplay experience.
Additionally, the third airdrop campaign has begun, offering players the chance to collect NYAN tokens that can be used within the game’s ecosystem.
The newly introduced Payload mode brings back classic mechanics familiar from past hero shooters like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch.
In this mode, two teams compete to push a payload across the map, with the team that moves it the furthest being declared the winner. This addition is a first step in 9 Lives’ mission to balance the game for different modes and playstyles.
In addition to the Payload mode, the third playtest introduces two new characters: Ayana and Yuri. Ayana is a swift scout cat designed to be at the forefront of battle.
With her ability to enhance player movement speed and neutralize enemies she passes through, Ayana provides valuable tactical support for her team.
Her ultimate ability launches her from the sky, dealing electric damage to the surrounding area, making her a significant threat on the battlefield.
On the other hand, Yuri is a mage guardian who adds unique magical abilities to the game. With her teleportation capability, Yuri can quickly move around the map, making her a highly dynamic and unpredictable character.
This ability allows players to quickly reposition behind enemies, providing a strategic advantage in combat.
The latest playtest also introduces a new mechanic called “embark,” allowing cats who have disembarked from their mechs to hop onto the backs of allied mechs.
Additionally, the customizable “augments” system is now in place, offering small, random stat boosts to characters during gameplay.
The development team acknowledges that balancing this feature will be a challenge, but they are committed to ensuring it has a noticeable impact without disrupting game balance.
The third airdrop campaign, which coincides with the playtest, gives players the opportunity to earn NYAN tokens by completing weekly and daily missions within the game.
These tokens will provide benefits within the game’s ecosystem, allowing players to access various features and additional content.
This update reflects significant progress in the development of ‘Nyan Heroes.’ From the latest playtest experience, the game appears more polished and refined compared to previous versions.
Notably, the wall-running mechanic feels smoother in this build, and players are encouraged to experiment with it more than in the last playtest, though there has been no official word on this being a tweaked mechanic.
Despite these advancements, the development team still has much work ahead before the game is ready for a full release.
With a small team of around 60 people, as mentioned by Arianne Garin, marketing manager at 9 Lives, developing the game is a substantial effort requiring considerable resources and time. The company is currently looking to recruit additional staff to help push the game to the next level.
For now, the team’s primary focus is on launching the third playtest and gathering player feedback to further refine the game.
Although there is no official estimate for when the game will enter beta or achieve full release, the enthusiasm of the community and support from players will be crucial for ‘Nyan Heroes’ future success.
With the array of new features and updates offered in this third playtest, ‘Nyan Heroes’ remains a noteworthy title in the shooter genre.
Fans and new players are invited to join the playtest, explore the new mode, try out the new characters, and experience the innovations brought by ‘Nyan Heroes.’
